FaceTouchUp vs PreviewMD · Verified August 2026
The practice-grade FaceTouchUp alternative.
FaceTouchUp is a consumer morphing tool; by its own description, an app used by patients and surgeons where the user manually warps their photo. PreviewMD is practice software: an AI preview widget embedded on your website, running on a model fine-tuned with a practicing surgeon’s decades of experience, with every preview delivered to your practice as a lead.
FaceTouchUp
What is FaceTouchUp?
FaceTouchUp is a consumer photo-morphing tool. By its own description it is an app used by patients and surgeons where the user manually warps their own photo, dragging features into a new shape. It has been around for years and its tutorial pages are the reason most people find it.
There is a surgeon-facing offering, but it is secondary to the consumer product, and the free patient tools are what drive the traffic.
What FaceTouchUp does well
It is free for patients, it is genuinely useful as a first look, and its tutorial content answers what curious patients actually search for. As a way for someone to play with an idea before they are ready to call anyone, it has earned its audience.
It also does something we deliberately do not: manual control. The user decides the shape rather than accepting a generated direction.
Where FaceTouchUp falls short
The relationship stays with FaceTouchUp. A patient who morphs a photo on their site leaves with a picture and no appointment, and your practice never learns they were interested.
And a hand-dragged warp is not a surgical preview. No clinical standard sits behind the output; the user made the shape.
What FaceTouchUp costs
This one deserves a note. FaceTouchUp publishes a comparison table carrying four competitors’ prices, and lists its own monthly cost as “custom pricing.” It is the most-cited pricing source in this category, and it doesn’t include its own number.
On FaceTouchUp’s own comparison table, read 17 August 2026, the monthly cost cell for FaceTouchUp reads “Custom pricing, typically 50-75% less,” while the same table gives dollar figures for Canfield VECTRA, Crisalix, Arbrea and TouchMD. Their consumer tools are free to patients.

PreviewMD
What is PreviewMD?
PreviewMD is an AI preview widget that belongs to your practice rather than to the patient. It sits on your website under your branding, and the visitor’s details reach you before they see their own before and after. One front-facing photo, about three to four minutes. The facelift simulator and the rhinoplasty simulator are live, and more sit on the simulators page.
One script tag installs it on any platform. Photos are used to build the preview and never stored, and the widget states that answer on screen where the patient can read it.
What PreviewMD does well
Every preview arrives as a named enquiry in your CRM rather than an anonymous session on somebody else’s app. Leads land natively in GoHighLevel, through a webhook, or in 450+ systems via Keragon.
Behind each procedure is a model fine-tuned with a practising double board certified plastic surgeon, with men and women treated as separate problems.
Where PreviewMD falls short
FaceTouchUp is free for patients and we are not. If your goal is simply to give browsers something to play with at zero cost, a consumer morphing tool does that and PreviewMD would be an expensive way to match it. We also cover procedures where a manual warp tool can nominally reshape anything the user drags.
What PreviewMD costs
$249 per month for Starter with 150 previews included, $449 for Pro with 500, $999 for Elite with 1,200. Extra previews are a flat $1.00 each and the widget never shuts off mid-month. Annual billing is two months free. Every plan starts with a 14-day trial, card up front, cancel anytime. No setup fee, no per-patient fee, no hardware.

How switching from FaceTouchUp works
There’s no migration path to worry about, because FaceTouchUp is not installed on your website in the first place. Some practices link out to it or mention it to patients; PreviewMD replaces that hand-off with a tool that runs on your own domain.
The practical change is where the traffic lands. Today a curious visitor leaves your site to morph a photo somewhere else. After the swap they stay, upload once, and your team gets the lead.

Questions
The questions buyers ask.
Is PreviewMD like FaceTouchUp?
Different class of product. FaceTouchUp is a consumer tool where users manually morph their own photos. PreviewMD is a widget your practice embeds: AI-rendered previews validated to a surgeon’s standard, on your website, with every preview delivered to you as a lead.
Why would a practice pay for PreviewMD when FaceTouchUp is free for patients?
Because the free tool keeps the patient; your widget converts them. A visitor who previews their result on your website hands your practice their contact info before the render appears. That’s a lead from traffic you already paid for, which no third-party consumer app gives you.
Which is more realistic?
Manual warping produces whatever the user drags. PreviewMD’s previews are AI renders from a model fine-tuned with a practicing double board certified plastic surgeon’s decades of experience. Judge it yourself in the live demo on your own photo.
Is FaceTouchUp free for practices too?
Their consumer tools are free, which is what drives their traffic; the surgeon-facing offering is a secondary part of their site. Check their pricing page directly for current terms. PreviewMD is practice software with public pricing: $249 to $999 per month depending on preview volume and branding.
What stops a patient just using a free tool instead of my website?
Nothing, and some will. The difference is what happens next: a patient who morphs a photo on a consumer app leaves with a picture and no appointment. A patient who previews on your website has already handed your practice their name and contact info, which is the entire point of running it on your own domain.
